Welcome to the fourth edition of the new Nightingale News! This will be a weekly newsletter published on the school website.
What’s been happening in school?
Year 5 have worked hard in Geography this week, counting litter in the school grounds to question whether people try to hide their litter. Everyone concluded that people obviously know that littering is wrong, and feel guilty when dropping litter because they try to hide it in bushes and under furniture.

- The children in Reception have really impressed Mrs Thompson with their phonics assessments this week! Lots of the children have learned more sounds and are showing off their blending. Good job, Sparrows and Starlings!
-
As part of the Year of Reading, we have celebrated National Storytelling week in school this week. The children in years 1, 2, 4 and 5 enjoyed some interactive online workshops in school on Tuesday!
-
Year 6 enjoyed a visit on Tuesday afternoon as part of their Careers learning. Miss de Sousa, who works as a doctor, told the children all about her career. Thank you for giving up your time to come and speak to our children!
Electric Scooters
Please can electric scooters not be ridden on the school grounds to ensure our school community is safe during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
Attendance
Our attendance target is 96%. We want your children to be in school ALL DAY EVERYDAY! School is open between 8.45am and 3.30pm Monday - Friday. Whatever the weather, we want your children to be in school learning and doing all the great activities the teachers are planning.
The highest attendance classes this week have been:
In Early Years = Starlings with 95.91%
In KS1 = Peacocks with 94.67%
In Years 3 and 4: Kingfishers with 95.67%
In Years 5 and 6: Wrens with 95%
