We have had a busy week at Nightingale! It has been lovely to see the children enjoying the lighter, brighter weather this week.
What’s been happening in school?
-
We have had some visitors in school this week from other schools across the Trust. They were so impressed with the children at Nightingale! They commented on the children’s sensible behaviour and attitudes to learning; they enjoyed seeing all the fabulous activities that have been planned by the staff in school; they loved the classrooms and learning environments. Well done team Nightingale!

-
On Monday we made Martisor bracelets; Mărțișor is a tradition celebrated at the beginning of Spring in March, involving an object made from two intertwined red and white strings with hanging tassel.
-
Drama Club enjoyed a trip to the theatre on Tuesday afternoon! The children behaved very well and loved having an exciting experience out of school.
-
We held World Book Day on Friday 6th March; the children looked wonderful in their range of coloured clothes, which linked to our book of the day The Day the Crayons Quit. Here is the link to the story if you want to enjoy it at home! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPkrhIEoOJg

When the children arrived in school, they found that all the glue sticks were on strike! We had to persuade them to come back!

British Values
At Nightingale we know that rules and laws are important. This week, the children at Nightingale have shown a fantastic understanding of our Golden Rules in school, including moving around school sensibly and quietly and doing what an adult asks the first time.
Parent’s Evening
If you haven’t already done so, pop into the school office to make your appointment for Parent’s Evening on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th March between 3.45pm and 6pm. The teachers can’t wait to celebrate all the wonderful achievements from your children this term. You will also find out about the latest assessments and will be able to ask your child’s teacher questions about the learning in school.
Attendance
Our attendance target is 96%. We want your children to be in school ALL DAY EVERYDAY! School is open between 8.45am and 3.30pm Monday - Friday. Whatever the weather, we want your children to be in school learning and doing all the great activities the teachers are planning.
The highest attendance classes this week have been:
In Early Years: Sparrows with 96.67%
In KS1: Pigeons with 94.14%
In years 3 and 4: Kingfishers with 94%
In years 5 and 6: Wrens with 98.62%
