Eid Mubarak to all our families celebrating this week!

What’s been happening in school?

  • Reception had a fantastic time on Tuesday going to the Carriageworks theatre in Leeds to see a performance of Zog! The children behaved beautifully and loved seeing this fantastic story brought to life on the stage. Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us.

  • Year 3 had an exciting launch lesson in English this week - children were wrapped up like Ancient Egyptian mummies!

  • We have an author in year 6! Ahmed in Hawks class has published some of his own stories on Amazon Kindle. Titles include Ghostly Whispers and Too Much PI. The stories are all mysteries. Super writing, Ahmed!

What are we reading in English at the moment?

  • Children in Year 1 are reading Silly Billy. Silly Billy is a story about a little boy who worries so much he can't sleep. His grandma gives him worry dolls to take his fears away.

  • Year 2 have enjoyed the book Farther. Farther is a story about a young boy whose father spends his whole life dreaming of building a machine that can fly.

  • Year 3 are reading Secrets of a Sun King - this is an exciting adventure about a girl named Lilian who finds a mysterious package in a tomb…

  • Year 4: The Roman Mysteries: The Thieves of Ostia is an exciting adventure set in Ancient Rome.

  • Year 5 are reading a non-fiction book about the Suffragettes.
  • Year 6: Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman is a story about a teenager named Cameron who needs a new heart to survive.

Make-up and lip gloss

A reminder that children should not be bringing in make-up, lip glosses or beauty products into school. If your child has dry lips and needs to bring in a lip balm, please let your child’s teacher know.

British Values

In assembly this week, we thought about the celebrations of Easter and Eid. We are tolerant at Nightingale of all faiths, religions and beliefs.

Skill Builder

Our Skill of the Week this week has been Leadership. We have been looking out for those children who have been leaders of the classroom, year group and school!
