We have been enjoying the weather this week at Nightinglae, using the field for football, a trip to the farm in Reception and some outdoor learning in Key Stage 1!
What’s been happening in school?
-
Reception enjoyed their trip to Temple Newsam Farm on Friday! Watch out for some photos on one of our website stories coming soon!
-
We had a lovely coffee morning on Friday 1st May with parents/carers of children with SEND. We would love to see more of you there on the following Fridays!
-
Some Leeds United coaches have joined the Nightingale Team to work with children in year 6 and year 3. It has been lovely to see our children enjoying the weather and playing football on the field!

African World Heritage Day
On Tuesday 5th May we will have a special assembly to celebrate the unique cultural and natural heritage of Africa.
If any children have a special item of clothing or object at home that represents their African heritage or culture, they are welcome to bring this into school on 5th May for a Show and Tell in their class.
Year 6 SATs Week
On Monday 11th May - Thursday 14th May, our year 6 pupils will be taking their end of Key Stage 2 tests. We are so proud of all the hard work they have been putting into their learning and we know they are going to do brilliantly.
The children in year 6 are invited to a SATs breakfast club at 8.20am on 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th May.
All year 6 children must be in school on time this week.
British Values

One of the British Values is Liberty. At Nightingale we are free to make choices and we give the children opportunities to make decisions. For example, the children might vote for which story they read in story time or they will choose which area they want to play in at lunchtime.
Skill Builder
This week’s skill of the week has been problem solving. Why not ask your child how they have shown this skill this week?
Chewing Gum

A reminder that chewing gum is not allowed in school. If your child uses chewing gum at home, please ensure this is not brought into school.
Shoelaces
Some children in school are still learning the skill of tying their shoelaces. We would appreciate your support with this important life skill.
Attendance
Our attendance target is 96%. We want your children to be in school ALL DAY EVERYDAY! School is open between 8.45am and 3.30pm Monday - Friday. Whatever the weather, we want your children to be in school learning and doing all the great activities the teachers are planning.
The highest attendance classes this week have been:
In Early Years: Starlings with 96.25%
In KS1: Pigeons with 94.14%
In years 3 and 4: Herons with 89.67%
In years 5 and 6: Hawks with 92.14%
