What’s been happening in school?

  • Year 6 have enjoyed their trip to Filey Beach today! Watch out for photos on the website next week!

  • Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us in year 3 this morning to share an art activity with the children. It was lovely to see so many of you in the building today.

  • We have some exciting art topics happening in school at the moment.

Year 1 are looking at the artist Tracy McGuiness-Kelly who uses lots of spirals in her art!

Year 2’s artist is Picasso - they are drawing portraits.

Year 3 are looking at shape and colour through the artists Matisse and Craven.

Christian Robinson is Year 4’s artist. He uses collage in his artwork.

Year 5 are drawing self-portraits.

Year 6’s artist is Van Gogh.

Why not ask your child what they have been learning in art - maybe they could show you one of the techniques they have learned!

School Uniform

A reminder that the school uniform policy is as above. Please let us know if you need any support with uniform for your child.

Reading Books

Please send your child to school with their book bag and reading book every day.

This year we are not using a reading record: we are using an online way of recording our reading called Track My Read. Here is the link to the school’s page:

https://trackmyread.org/school/coop-academy-nightingale-180419

If your child has lost or forgotten their log-in details, please let your child’s teacher know.

This week’s book recommendation

https://anyflip.com/iege/noci/basic

Elmer is a fantastic book for children in Reception or year 1. This book tells the story of an elephant who wonders what it would be like to be grey like everyone else.

Attendance

Our attendance target is 96%. We want your children to be in school ALL DAY EVERYDAY! School is open between 8.45am and 3.30pm Monday - Friday. Whatever the weather, we want your children to be in school learning and doing all the great activities the teachers are planning.

The highest attendance classes this week have been:

In Early Years: Sparrows with 93%

In KS1: Robins with 94%

In years 3 and 4: Eagles with 96%

In years 5 and 6: Doves with 97%
